**
Ingredients:**
1 pound ground beef
1 ½ cups chopped onion
1 ½ cups milk
¾ cup baking mix
3 eggs
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tomatoes, sliced
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions:
Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Pie Dish:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Grease a deep-dish 9-inch pie dish.
Cook the Beef and Onion:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook and stir the ground beef and chopped onion in the skillet until the beef is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes; drain off and discard any excess grease.
Spread the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly into the prepared pie dish.
Prepare the Baking Mix:
In a blender, combine the milk, baking mix, eggs, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Blend until smooth, approximately 15 seconds.
Bake the Pie:
Pour the blended mixture over the beef in the pie dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is lightly browned.
Add Tomatoes and Cheese:
Remove the pie from the oven and carefully arrange the tomato slices on top of the biscuit layer.
Sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese over the tomatoes.
Return the pie to the oven and continue baking until the cheese is melted, about 5 to 8 more minutes.
Cool and Serve:
Let the pie cool for about 5 minutes before slicing. This rest period helps the pie set, making it easier to slice and serve.
